Expansion of minerals concentrate terminal at port of Callao
TAIM WESER supplied to PERUBAR a project consisting of the expansion, revamping and integration of the Perubar’s mineral concentrates logistics unit at Callao’s Port Terminal, located 15 km. from the city of Lima.
TAIM WESER’s scope of supply included the conveying system for minerals reception and sending to the pre-shipment warehouse, the feeding system with a transverse travelling bridge and a discharge tripper and the conveying and sending from the warehouse to the port terminal’s Open Access, for its final transfer and loading into ships.
The Challenge Achieved
Thanks to those new facilities, conveying and loading capacity for mineral concentrates is increased substantially, thus vessel lay times in Callao are significantly shortened, with the consequent financial savings achieved.
Furthermore, the new expansion project makes the Port of Callao the largest, most modern and competitive mineral-handling wharf in the country, which will allow increasing substantially the export of mineral concentrates to international markets.
