Porto Sudeste iron ore terminal
Porto Sudeste is a modern private port terminal located at Ilha da Madeira, in the city of Itaguaí, and occupy an area of 52 hectares, the equivalent of 72 soccer fields.
In this project, TAIM WESER was in charge of the design, manufacture, supply and commissioning of the complete belt conveyor system, comprised of 54 belt conveyors with more than 13 Km. total length and a rated capacity of 12.000 tph as well as the four combined bucketwheel stacker-reclaimer machines of the terminal, with a stacking capacity of 10.000 tph and a reclaim capacity of 12.000 tph.
The Challenge Achieved
Porto Sudeste is consider to be the most important Project implemented in Brazil the last decade and it has enabled the Brazilian mining sector expansion, allowing the local iron ore producers to increase the mineral export to international markets in a fast and efficient way.
Porto Sudeste’s Project has been a big challenge for all departments of TAIM WESER design, manufacture, logistics, erection and commissioning, as it is the biggest volume, capacity and complexity project developed by the company so far.
