Los Hornillos waste processing plant in Quart de Poblet (Valencia) has received and processed municipal solid waste (MSW) from the districts of the Valencia metropolitan area since 1968. After 40 years in operation, this plant was completely renewed in order to adapt the MSW management to current technological and environmental requirements. To do this, three new facilities equipped with the most advanced waste processing and treatment systems were developed.
The Challenge Achieved
The installation supplied by TAIM WESER included a Mechanical-Biological Treatment (MBT) facility to process the organic fraction sorted out from the MSW collected in order to obtain compost and counts with a processing capacity of 62,000 tons per year. The facility is formed by a bio stabilisation system in a closed building, with an automatic infeed and automatic bucket wheel turning machine.
